On November 8th and 9th, the International Conference Learning and Implementing Social Innovation took place in Coimbra. This conference was co-organised by the Nursing School of Coimbra, SHINE 2Europe and AFEdemy, and aimed to share and discuss approaches, projects and best practices related to Social Innovation and how to implement and develop healthier and inclusive environments.
During these days, panels, workshops, and face-to-face meetings allowed to present and discuss projects related to Social Innovation, SHAFE’s approach and the value of ICTs in improving health.
BIG was one of the headliners of the conference with its Multiplier Event. 82 persons (47 international and 35 Portuguese) participated in this national and international event. On the 9th of November, Willeke Van Staalduinen, the project coordinator, presented the online educational game and the methodology and trainer’s manual that were developed to use the game in the context of non-formal education.
In the afternoon practical session, facilitated by Willeke van Staalduinen (AFEdemy), Carina Dantas and Joana Vieira (SHINE), an active methodology was used, and participants were asked to try out the game and practical exercises. This event was very important because it allowed to collect relevant feedback from people who have an unbiased view and can give important suggestions for improvements.
These suggestions were used to improve the game and methodology. It also allowed to explore with the stakeholders new pathways to exploit the game in the future and raise awareness on its existence, promoting further use and dissemination.
